Since 1994 “Beluga”, LLC has been engaged into fish-processing and caviar production. In 1998, when the industrial fishing of sturgeon in the Caspian Sea was above 1000 ton and the ban on sturgeon catch was still years ahead, our company started experimental work on domestication of Russian Sturgeon (Acipenser Güldenstaedti) and Caspian Beluga (HUSO HUSO) breeders, making gradual steps towards forming its own breed stock.

  During this unique experiment caviar was produced not by conventional method (killing), but by non-mortal method (stripping off) of caviar production from wild sturgeon breeders, which were later kept in artificial environment. That work later resulted into the first hatchery line on the Volga River.
